What is Mojabox?
Mojabox, comes from the Kiswahili word Moja or “one”. I am using one or the concept of oneness to express “I am because we are”. As an African American mother of two, an educator and an advocate who believes in affirming my community and culture, my vision in life has always focused on ways to affirm and educate diverse youth and their teachers. I am expanding my toolkit to include parents. On this website you will find my “desktop” which is represented by the "BOX". Writings that support understandings around educational best practice for teacher and African American youth. Educational materials, resources and activities to support African parents and children and finally, my apparel line—which offers a way to physically affirm positive imaging of ourselves while feeling beautiful at the same time.
